After telling the students about the competition there were several good entries to choose from. Rick, Arun, and Xiahong all entered great recipes with a different cultural angle: Canadian, Chinese and Indian. After careful review of the submitted recipes with some of my colleagues Chefs and I sat down with the students and let them know each of the recipes had some great ideas and how about we combine them? This is how we came up with this recipe with some spices from India, some techniques from China and some products and of course students from Canada. We hope you enjoy!

Mother of Rachel Hoffman speaks out

Rachel Hoffman was passionate about music. She had dreams of going to culinary school. She was the kind of girl who took up for the underdog. And, most of all, she loved spending time with friends and family. "She fed them self-esteem, self-respect," her mother, Margie Weiss, shown here, said.
